Syncing in Appfolio

There is 2 options to set up Appfolio, however it is dependent on your Appfolio plan.

Appfolio Core/Plus: Use the Appfolio email based integration guide below

Appfolio Max: Use API access guide below

Appfolio Core/Plus users do not have access to Appfolio’s write API meaning RentBamboo can not push data in.

RentBamboo will handle your property sync, if you don’t see your properties contact [email protected]

AppFolio Core/Plus Sync

Step 1 — Add RentBamboo as a User in AppFolio (Must have Presidential access)

1. Log in to AppFolio.

2. Go to User Management.

3. Click Add User.

Enter the following details:

• Name: RentBamboo AI

• Email: Your RentBamboo email

• PW: Always keep your PW internal

Then:

• Assign the Leasing role

• Assign the user to the properties you want RentBamboo to manage

• Ensure email notifications are enabled for all things leasing (guest cards, applications, showings/tours)

• Turn off any automated leasing reply templates inside AppFolio

Step 2 — Confirm the Verification Email

AppFolio may send a verification email.

If you receive one:

1. Log in to RentBamboo

2. Go to Inbox

3. Open the verification email

4. Click Confirm / Accept

Repeat the steps if you have multiple RentBamboo teams.

Step 3 — If test leads aren’t being created:

This is almost always cause of your Zillow and apartments.com settings.

Reference the guides below and complete it for each RentBamboo team.

Appfolio API Integration

This guide is only for AppFolio users with Appfolio API access

If you're on AppFolio Plus or Core and don’t have API access please reference the guide above instead, those plans only support read only API access, so we connect through a different method.

Step 1 — Notify RentBamboo

Email us at [[email protected]] to request AppFolio API setup. We'll send you a list of endpoints to enable and copy you on everything you need for the next step.

Step 2 — Email AppFolio

Forward our endpoint list to your AppFolio representative and request that they enable API access for those endpoints. We'll provide the exact email template so you don't have to write anything from scratch.

Step 3 — Enable Webhooks

Once AppFolio confirms access, we'll configure the webhooks on our end and send you a short guide to complete the setup in your AppFolio Developer Portal. Our team will be available to walk you through it if needed.
